Safety and Training Tip Tuesday 22-02: There are several different types of reloads to be familiar with and incorporate into your practice. Here are three of the most common:
Speed Reload: Partially loaded magazine out of the gun and onto the ground, then replace it with a full magazine. No need to rack the slide. No wasted movement is key. This type of reload is useful in competition.
Empty Gun/Emergency Reload: Gun is empty and slide is usually locked back. Empty magazine out, replace with a full magazine then move slide forward to chamber a round. This is a necessary reload anytime your gun goes empty.
Tactical Reload/Reload with Retention: Partially loaded magazine out of gun, retain that magazine and insert full magazine. This should be done when you have time, distance, and cover from any potential threats.
Train hard and be safe!
